I'm thinking about getting this but it doesn't seem to have a filter thread? am I correct on that, or does it still have a 58mm thread like the rest in the V-AF line?

Is the Tamron naturally brighter or were there variations in the lighting? When you shot the charts the settings were the same but the exposures were different.

Is it necessary to replace the filter holder? Does Sony not have a filter holder already? I'm looking at this lens, but I want to have an informed decision.

Bought the Rokinon as I already had the Lens Station. At $1100 US (on sale) vs $1900 US for the Tamron I couldn't justify the additional $800. I love Tamron lenses and own quite a few of them but the one thing I like better on the Rokinon is that it has par focus meaning it stays in focus throughout the zoom once it has been locked on a subject. The Samyang/Rokinon was simply the better value. I find the AF to be snappy and accurate.

I bought thte Rokinon 50mm f1.4 series II for less than $450 US. Its a great lens even if it was 3 times the price which is what the Sony is costing. I cant see why anyone would dump $1300 for the f1.4 of $2000 for the 1.2 when the Samyang/Rokinon gices you 98% of what the Sony gives you. I updated the firmware and use this lens on a Sony A7RV and A7IV and it never misses focus for me. I havent experienced any AF issues, so Im not sure what the others are referring to.

I have been using the 3.5.150 mm Tramaron lens for a year and it gets dusty. What is the reason? It had to be cleaned within a year.

Any tips if the station doesn't "see" the lens? I have the 35mm F1.4 that doesn't react on the camera. I hoped it could be a software glitch and update the lens but also here no responce from the lens.

I have the Sony 135mm 1.8 GM Lens, it is excellent, I have been using it for all kind of photography, but now I only use rarely, fx for Landscape, it is big and heavy, so I often left it behind in my car. I do a lot of Macro Photography, so now I very often use the Voigtländer Macro APO-Lanthar 110mm 2.5 which is build like a tank, it have outstanding image quality, at aperture 2.5 and 2.8 it is sharper than the Sony 135mm ! I can very highly recommend Voigtländer APO-Lanthar Lenses !

So....did Samyang send all the YT influencers excellent copies of their 35-150mm? I've been through 2 copies and both missed eye autofocus a lot. About 6 out of 10 were soft on moving subjects. I would NOT buy a used version of this lens. I sent both of mine back. Good luck.

I made a mistake buying Samyang, had to send it back. Nevertheless, there are two things I liked about it. It performed very well at 35mm, very sharp. And bokeh is very smooth. Unfortunately, it goes downhill the longer you zoom. At 150mm it's just soft, even at the center. Flaky AF is not helping either. But what pushed me over the edge is terrible flaring of Samyang. The veiling is so strong at longer focal length it becomes impossible to shoot anywhere where there are strong back lights, even outside the frame.

It definitely looks like a cool lens

7:10 - I have the Samyang and to be fair, that orange/blue aberration can get heavy at times, and hard to remove if you have blue/orange colored elements in the scene. Thanks for the great review.
